I thought that I had reviewed this before but cannot find it. I have stayed there many times over the years. It is an old motel. Once a Best Western but no longer. I don't know if they wanted to avoid the expense or if they didn't meet the standards.
Management once was terrible. The internet (that you are forced to pay for under their "Resort Fee") was always too busy to be able to get on or if I got on I got kicked off. I had an issue with my hot spot this visit & temporarily used it. It worked fine on this visit.
Contrary to some other reviews, my room was clean & no bugs. In the past I have had trouble with a phone that did not work & lamps that did not work. None of those issues this visit.
My van was parked directly in front of my downstairs door. The alarm was on. The alarm went off around 1AM. It took me a moment to wake up & get dressed, find the room & van keys. Once I got out I found that it had been professionally entered (no damage or scratches) & a laptop stolen. I suspect that it was either a motel guest or a motel visitor who targeted me. I do not believe that it was a random burglary.
Security came to my room. However, in all of my years of staying there, I have never seen security strolling around.
I have stayed there because they are a short 2 block walk to the Convention Center. It saves time & the $10 parking fee. I will stay further out next time & pay the parking & drive in.
Large room, large bed, refrigerator. I always have had the same room. There has been a tear in the carpet for over 5 years.
Last year my chair was missing. I fought with the desk clerk to get a replacement & he denied me. Finally a maid got me a chair. This is representative of the terrible attitude that management has had. The chair was there this time. The check in clerk was very polite.
This year I only saw a maid once. A cute young Mexicana. She didn't speak English but seemed intent on doing a good job.
They seem to cater to European tourists & good bikers.
