| - Originally bought a Groupon because I was new to Charlotte and wanted to try some different gyms before committing. Well that plan was short-lived. After my first visit I was convinced it would save me money in the long run to sign up for a year membership that day. I know how high-pressure sales work, and I fell into the trap anyway.
All in all I have been pretty happy with the membership. Group fitness has always been the most motivational for me, which is why I joined Pure Body. It is pretty much all group fitness ranging from yoga, barre, pilates, cycling, crossfit, body pump, and more. They have multiple classes a morning/night, which is great for me, because if I have to leave work a little later, there is another class I can make it to.
There are different levels of membership depending on what you are looking for. I have the sweat membership which includes the yoga, barre and pilates stuff, but not the crossfit. I feel like the monthly fee is a good value for what you get. It's more than a Gold's Gym or Planet Fitness, but less than a boutique studio.
There are a lot of instructors, so even if you take the same classes, it doesn't get boring. Body pump with Gabriella is probably my favorite. Her energy is amazing and even if you have taken the class many times you control how difficult it is.
I do think they could make some improvements on the overall atmosphere. Some of the hot yoga classes I don't enjoy taking because you're in a room with fluorescent lights. They could really add to the experience by using colored lighting and scent diffusers like they do at many yoga studios. Also making sure there are always towels and wipes stocked. Customer service is also not always great, especially if you take the last class of the day, I am often left waitig to get my keys back because the staff is away from the front desk doing closing duties. Locker room is A+ though.
