| - I would like to preface this by saying that I originally sent the below email to capital fitness through the "contact us" comment box on their website. That was about 5 months ago and I never even received an acknowledgement email. I also didn't notice that any of my complaints were taken into consideration or fixed. They either decided to ignore my email (extremely unprofessional) or they never received it (also very unprofessional-their website should function properly). I enjoyed my time at capital fitness at first, but now one of my favorite spin instructors (Alex) has left and they cancelled the spin class I used to go to on Thursday for the summer(6:00 PM). I also used to go to body pump a lot, but there are no longer any times available that working adults can make it to. Overall, the expense just isn't worth it anymore because there aren't enough classes that I can go to and the issues I originally tried to tell Cap about were disregarded. I will be leaving cap fitness to go to Cyc. Cap will need to dedicate more money to improving their spin program if they don't want to continue losing people to Cyc or other spin studios. Below is the original email with some of my complaints:
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to leave general feedback, so please let me know if I should email the general manager instead. I have a few comments/complaints about the cycling room. I love going to your cycling classes and have been going regularly (3 times a week) for over a year, but there are an increasing amount of broken bikes in the room. Some of them are never charged, some have broken straps on the pedal, some of them the have broken screws that won't tighten the handlebars, and some have really shaky seats. This wasn't such a big issue when the classes weren't so full, but now that more people go to class and the working bikes get taken first, I'll end up going to 3-4 bikes before I find one that works. This is incredibly frustrating and sometimes causes me to miss a few minutes of the workout. I have noticed other people in the class also become frustrated by this as well (even though we try to warn each other about which bikes aren't working).
Another issue is that there are not enough fans in the room. If you are in the back or on the sides there is no fan blowing on you at all, which is awful because the room gets very hot/humid even on cold days. It would be nice if more fans were added or if the fans were oscillating.
This is not a super important request, but I can remember last January some of the instructors saying that the screen in front of the room was going to get fixed, but it's now been a year and I've never seen an instructor use the screen so I don't think it's been fixed. This would be a really cool feature if it worked.
I really appreciate that the cost of capital fitness is low compared to other gyms and overall I really like the gym, but I've been seriously considering switching over to Cyc fitness despite the cost of it if some of these things don't improve (most importantly I think the bikes should be in better working condition).
