| - I can't find a bad thing to say about this place based on my first experience, American Male executes brilliantly on exactly what it promises, an upscale barbershop/salon which caters to guys.
The location was well marked and easy to find. I had called in at the last minute and they booked me for about an hour later. I was greeted with a pair of smiles and a beer at the door, and noticeably, no wait. The interior was aesthetically pleasant and also very comfortable. I did notice the arcade games, massage chair, and other amenities that others have pointed out but as I (luckily) had no wait I didn't really get a good look at the waiting area. There were a number of large televisions playing the Masters while I was there and while I didn't need to make use of it my phone did pick up wi-fi.
My stylist was Tattyanna who was a delight, and managed to give me the best haircut I've gotten in years despite my vague ideas about how I wanted it to look. She was both warm and professional, and had absolutely magic fingers; I had been pretty stressed out when I came in and I ended up being so totally relaxed during my scalp and face massage that I nearly fell asleep! I certainly wasn't the easiest Men's haircut, I had been growing out my hair for some time, and she managed to get through the whole process in about 40 minutes without ever feeling rushed. I definitely intend to ask for her the next time that I go in, and if she didn't thoroughly deserve to be recognized, I would have kept her name to myself so that those of you reading this don't make her harder for me to book!
Does AM charge more for its services than your standard strip mall candy-cane-pole barber shop? Sure. It's really not even a comparable service though. I have no problem paying a relatively minor premium for the vastly improved experience, your requirements for your place of haircutting may vary; but, the adage, "If you shop on price, you get what you pay for," seems remarkably apropos here.
Since this review is already coming off like an endorsement let me just say this; I came out of there looking and feeling distinctly better, and I can't imagine many better uses of money in Las Vegas than that.
