| - If I was reviewing Cheuvronts purely as a wine and cheese bar, this review would be 5 stars. If I was reviewing it as a restaurant, 1 or 2.
The selection of wines and cheeses is stellar. There's a fabulous selection at a nice variety of prices. I spend many afternoons/evenings here with friends, enjoying the sampling in a great atmosphere. We recently made the mistake of eating dinner though...
Look, the food is servicable. It's basically cooked well (except the mushy pasta). The ingredients seem reasonable. But the menu is dated and trite. Please, scallops on capellini? What is this, Applebees? When there weren't many choices downtown, we were happy to have it. Now, there's enough choices -- all with creative, innovative concepts and menus -- that I can just stick to the wine and cheese here.
NB I've been to a couple of the wine dinners here, and they are somewhat better than the regular menu, if for no other reason that it proably gives the kitchen staff something to live for.
