The worst buying experience of my sixty years on earth! I went to Earnhardt Lexus on Saturday of Labor Day weekend to purchase a new Lexus SUV and trade in my Infiniti. The salesman was good on knowledge of the vehicle and on the test drive. When it came down to the purchase of the vehicle he took my offer over to the sales manager. A few minutes later this little guy name Bull Earnhardt came over and tried to push the sale down my throat. I had asked for a certain amount for my trade which was a fair value for both the dealership and myself. When I asked for this trade in value for my infiniti he told me my tires were cupping and I needed a new alignment and offered me less ( I probably had 3,800 miles on these tires, and the Lexus dealer I traded this car into features the tires with pictures as a selling point) HUMMM! Bull then tried to take the savings from the taxes from one vehicle to the other and put it in as part of the trade in value. I then thank them for their time and left the dealership.
I went home which is about 35 miles from the dealership. About two hours later Bull called me on the salesman phone and told he would give me what I had requested for on my Infiniti trade-in. So I told him I would be there in about a one hour. When I arrived the salesman greeted me and told me Bull agreed to my trade-in value for my Infiniti. A couple of minutes later Bull came over and showed me what he was offering for my trade-in. (This weekend Lexus was offering 1.9% financing, and he offered me 3.9% financing.) Again he had moved the numbers around on the tax savings from one car to another and put $1,850 off the tax savings into the trade-in value of my car which by law he has to return to the customer anyway. He was trying to use a bait and switch by talking fast to get this deal done. I caught him and told him by law he has to return the tax savings and in no way will this be part of my trade in value. He stated "This is how We do it here." I told him he is stealing from the public, and messing with the figures all in his favor to make money for his dealership.
There is a honest dealership out there! The very next day I went to Bell Lexus and purchased a new Lexus at the price and trade in value I was looking for with the 1.9% financing. I was in and out of this dealership in about two hours. They we very friendly and honest.
The last recommendation I can put out there is get the trade value of your vehicle FIRST, before you start making a offer for the new vehicle.
Good luck.
