| - To say that this was disappointing is an understatement. My husband and I wanted to give this place a whirl to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We set up a reservation through Open Table and were excited to have a lovely steak & lobster/crab dinner...until...
Not sure if they lost 1/2 their staff that night (no one was paying attention to the door), but we walked in, looked around for a host/ess or a sign that said "Seat Yourself". Not seeing either option, we kinda lurked around the bar area and stood watching a basketball game. About 5-10 minutes in, a woman said she would be right with us. Once we were seated, we were asked immediately what we would like to drink (yes, before we had any menus). Hubby ordered a beer and asked for a wine list. Then no contact for another 10-15 minutes. The table on the side of ours was muttering something about not seeing their waiter for awhile.
Prior to arriving, I researched their menu and was really looking forward to trying their Oscar Tournedos dish (filet topped with crab meat and a bernaise sauce over mashed potatoes). The waiter, initially unsure as to whether they still had that dish, informed me that it is no longer on the menu. He said that the filet medallions would be somewhat comparable as long as I like gorgonzola cheese. I went with it. Hubby had the ribeye medium rare, and we ordered the potato skins appetizer (ONLY because of the Yelp deal when we checked-in, otherwise I don't order potato skins) and the salad bar. I ordered a glass of Malbec.
The wine was delicious. the potato skins were tasty, if a bit overdone. The salad bar was really good. My steak was a little underdone (I ordered medium (as I was informed that if I usually order medium well, then medium is the way to go), it came back as medium rare. Not necessarily a deal-breaker for me (since it was a quality piece of meat), but I am unsure as to where the gorgonzola was underneath all of that thick brown gravy. *sigh*
Once the plates were on the table, we never saw our waiter again. We never got any water refills. We were never asked if we would like another beverage even though our glasses were empty. After asking for our bill 4 times, the lady from the beginning of our journey meandered her way to our table, mentioned something about it being a tough night (I think the cook walked out?), and asked if we needed anything. I mentioned that we were disappointed with the service, that it was our anniversary, that we were really looking forward to the experience but were disappointed in how the evening went, and, to add insult to injury, not only did she disregard all of that, she also charged us for the potato skins.
The table that was looking for their waiter in paragraph 2 was still waiting for something when we left. If I were a betting woman, I would say they were just waiting for the opportunity to slink out of there since it seemed as though no one really cared one way or the other.
