| - Was by earlier this evening for oysters and appetizers with my gf. While I'm usually careful around discount oysters I know I can trust a place like Dianas as they are also a wholesaler to many restaurants in the GTA.
We went by on a thursday evening and they have a promo 10 malpeque (east coast) oysters for $12 and 7 Fanny bay (west coast) for $10. I know the cost of oysters, and the place isn't making alot on this promo, so turnover must be huge. I ordered a few different varieties for myself to try. The malpeques were great, medium size, perfectly shucked. The fanny bays on the other hand were a different story, maybe they had an amateur shucker on, but the muscle wasnt cut on the bottom of most of the fanny bays, resulting in having to do it at the table/force my gf to pull the oyster from the shell. I know they have a heavily ridged and brittle shell, but its no excuse.
Our apps were great, crab cakes and the most tender octopus I have ever encountered. Service was great, never letting our cups run dry and very attentive. This place is a jewel in the east end and a great treat from time to time, will be back to try the mackerel.
