| - I will say this first....I Want this place to be great, I really do. The idea of a the "beer scene" getting well established in Concord is exciting, and Cabarrus brewing could be a great start.
I have gone to Cabarrus many times since opening day, with a small crowd of my beer-loving friends. I/we realize you have to give any establishment time to work the kinks out. The opening day, and days, we're crazy....Long lines, a bit too crowded, and long waits for food and beer. More recently this has been much better. I have read a number of the other reviews and have to concur overall.
While I applaud the owners for building a beautiful place...Wow, it is huge, especially for Concord. Huge can be a double edged sword of course. Great when it's busy, but it can feel the scarey sort of empty . I just hope it can continue to remain full feeling once some of the other Concord (soon to be on tap) breweries are open for business.....In the end, it will come down to the beer
...As for the beer, I have to agree with other reviewers. I wanted to love the Rocky River IPA along with the others and I found myself disappointed. I didn't share my thoughts with others so as to hear what they thought, but it was all the same...Mediocre. Just a few days ago I went to Logans steakhouse, they were serving Cabarrus Rocky River IPA. My brother in law, who has never been to the brewery ordered it ( I did not). He didn't finish it (Very rare for him, if ever). I asked him what was wrong and he just simply stated : "not good, nothing going on with the flavor". The other night, myself and the crew were trying to decide where to go for a few beers...The subject of Cabarrus came up, everyone looked at each other and said "no, let's go to Charlotte".
As I opened this review : I/we want this place to be great. I am sure the owners will continue to tweak the beers to make them special. We hope that the food situation will get better. We want Cabarrus to do great but fear that once there are more local options, the thing that may stand out in people's minds is mediocrity. Let's hope for the best.
