  • Decided to stop by here for some late night bubbletea (11PM) after discovering that Coco had closed for the night. Best thing to do was to try this place which was conveniently next door. The inside is quite spacious, brightly lit and well decorated. There were around 3 people in line ahead of us when we entered. Since this was my first time here, I decided to go with the classic "fresh pearl milk tea" for $4.50, just to test the waters. There was only one person on shift, which made everything feel like such a long wait here. Apparently, someone had called in sick and there was no one else to cover. However, what I don't really understand from my experience is that the employee asked for our order while someone else was at the register and I was still waiting in line because "they'd be able to make our drink quicker"....What's the difference if you're the only person there? Just because you know what to make ahead of time doesn't really mean you can make it a lot quicker if you're still the only one who can perform the job duties. Nonetheless, we told them the order, and waited for it to be ready before we could pay. Someone else came in afterwards and he let that customer pay at the register BEFORE us...Once again prolonging our over-welcomed stay at this place. A 15min wait for our drink. The bubbletea itself tasted mediocore. It tasted identical, if not worse than the drinks from the Market Village food court joint that offers free (powdered, stirred, and non-authentic) bubbletea with their combo dishes. I could honestly try my hand at making bubbletea at home and it would probably taste the same, if not better than what Latea Era served me that night. The tapioca had absolutely no sweetness. or taste either. It was just watery, bland and nothing like other tapioca at other bubbletea chains that I've brought patronage to. Overall, the service is weird and very slow (for me at least), the place itself looks nice, and the regular pearl milk tea is a very, very, very far miss this time. The crown drinks are their specialty, but I'd rather go next door to Coco (the reliable, consistent, and tasty option) than spend my money at Latea Era to find out.
