| - I followed my amazing, OUTSTANDING PA (Gary Manley) here from his previous office, who left after the practice started overcharging patients. I had just joined a new firm and had no insurance coverage for three month, and this office's cash pay rate was much cheaper, $125 for the initial visit, and $75 for each appointment thereafter (which for me, is a monthly thing.)
The staff is very nice, and they've been good with appointment reminders and any follow up calls. However, when I was choosing an insurance plan through my employer, I called them to find out what they accepted from HPN. The gal on the phone specifically told me they accepted Tier I and I, but NOT III, even specifying that they had less billing issues and payment denials with Tier II than I.
Fast forward two weeks, I come into the office with my shiny new Tier II card, excited that I don't have to pay $75 a month any longer...to be told they only take Tier III, not I or II. Now, not only am I stuck paying HPN a higher premium than I could have, I'm paying $75/visit to their office, and since they don't take my insurance, I can't get bloodwork, labs, ETC.
They've been extremely apologetic, but not willing to reduce their cash pay rate, and every month I agonize whether I should switch providers or not (which is difficult when your PA is so awesome.)
