I was super excited to try Rocco's. I picked up an eggplant parm sandwich with high hopes. I'm from Santa Monica and we have Bay Cities Italian Deli, which is AMAZING! So my expectations are a bit high. When I got to Rocco's and placed my order, one of the gentlemen behind the counter, confidently announced that they just took bread out of the oven. I was now, crazy hungry and the anticipation was killing me. I drive home with the smell of fresh bread in my truck, making my mouth water! I get into my house and savagely unwrap the sandwich like a kid on Christmas. At first glance, I thought "this is nothing like my beloved Bay Cities" I finally take a bite and my initial thought was confirmed, "THIS IS NOTHING LIKE MY BELOVED BAY CITIES!!!" The bread is not hearty enough to stand up to the sauce on an eggplant parm. The eggplant it self appears to be prebreaded then reheated. The entire sandwich culminated in a soggy warm mess. I couldn't even pick the sandwich up! Sorry Rocco's, I did have high hopes for finding my go to Italian Deli in Vegas, no such luck. Back to the search.
