  • I rarely rate a food or beverage venue after a single visit. Stone Creek Coffee is an exception. I was very, very pleased with my first visit - being that I am self-proclaimed, Yelp Madison's Coffee King. ;) My first visit was on a Monday morning for a work meeting. A MONDAY MORNING. Jake is a tough biscotti (get it?...a play on 'tough cookie'? Hehe!) on any morning, but Monday's are the worst! SCC turned me into a happy camper upon immediate arrival via taxi from my apartment right across the Isthmus. Ironically, my cab driver likes SCC too and visited the week before during a barista throwdown event. A barista greeted me as soon as I entered the building, allowing me to go through the 'it's my first time here, and I'm kinda excited' spiel. Again, being a Monday morning, I needed to treat myself to a pour over coffee. Great flavors - tasty and incredible. A 12 oz. pour over (I'm sorry...I cannot remember the type of pour over I had!) ran me $4.00. Not bad at all for a pour over. Especially of this quality! Bakery items are stocked from Madison Sourdough, which I nabbed a cranberry, almond scone to go - WELL worth it! Other baked/food items are thawed and shipped from the Milwaukee area. Even the merch looked interesting - you can buy plain ol' coffee filters here! That's not possible at Colectivo, Barriques, Crescendo, Bradbury's or anywhere else I can list here. That's unique, memorable, and really neat!! Your other coffee bevs are on the menu too - espressos, miels, americanos, lattes, etc. A Boston Latte is supposedly made with honey - something I may try on a future visit. Lastly, I didn't ask too much about the Lab Room. There is an actual caffeine or coffee "lab" space, that sort of looks like an event space used for cupping and other caffeinated experiences. Fun! Sorry Stacey L. - I didn't really have an urge to sip a tea this time. One of these days I am sure it's possible! I am also excited to visit and sit in the patio space out front off E Wash - or stop by after a summer run, and grab a coffee to-go as I cool down across the Isthmus.
