| - Worst. Experience. Ever. Is there a star rating less than 1?
To be very clear, this review is of the SERVICE DEPARTMENT ONLY. I purchased my car at this dealership approximately 3 years ago and the sales department was wonderful. The service department is TERRIBLE.
Check engine light came on. Called to ensure that the probable cause was covered under warranty. Spoke directly with a woman in the office who then scheduled a service visit for the next day. When I arrived, they didn't have my appointment in their system. The service manager took my car, but was rude and dismissive. It's not my fault that you guys are disorganized and lack adequate communication skills. Picked up car later that day. Drove it for most of the next day until the check engine light came on...again. Called the service department again and dropped my car off for it to be looked at the next day. Got a call from the service manager the next day (a Friday) who said that they didn't know what was wrong with my car, but would have another mechanic look at it on Saturday. I was told that he would call me on Saturday to let me know what was going on. Around 3:00 on Saturday, I had heard nothing. My husband called the service department and spoke directly with the only mechanic there who said that he knew nothing about my car and was given no orders to look at it today. Side note, I was never offered a loaner. When my husband asked about the option to use a loaner car, the mechanic stated that he would have to get that request approved and there was nobody there who could do so. When my husband asked him to get in touch with someone who can help us, the mechanic said that he couldn't and would not call anybody to do this. Thanks man.
Just a little background...I am a home care health provider. I absolutely need a car to do my job. I spent several days (total of 6 days) without my car.
So here's where it gets really good...When I called on Monday to straighten things out, I was told by the service manager that there was a problem with the car's engine and it wouldn't be covered by my warranty because "we tampered with it." Other than getting a new set of tires approximately 1.5 years prior to this at Pep Boys, nobody has touched my car except for the staff at Century 3 Chevy. My husband went back and forth with them for a few days and got them to run a test to prove that no tampering occurred. They should have run this test in the first place before accusing people of nonsense. Of course, when forced to do this they realized that the engine was never messed with. They then fixed the problem and it was fully covered under warranty.
Apparently, the service manager "assumed" (his exact word) that I had taken the car elsewhere and had someone else mess with my engine. I like, don't even know what that all means! I know nothing about cars, engines or why someone would even tamper with any of that stuff in the first place. It was such a ridiculous situation that was never properly rectified. For the hassle and inconvenience they caused not just me, but my husband and family who were all involved (I.e. Borrowing cars for work, my husband going crazy dealing with these unprofessional people, etc.), they offered not even an apology. They were disorganized throughout. Scheduled service visit not in the system, weekend mechanic with no work order to look at my car when I was told someone would. The service manager was rude. He treated me poorly on that 1st day when I dropped my car off for the original problem. He treated my husband poorly. He was quick to assume and accuse.
I will NEVER go back. I will take my car to another Chevy dealership for service as needed. I probably won't even buy another Chevy after this car kicks the bucket. Completely disgusted with the entire situation.
