Father was discharged to Sante of North Scottsdale after hip surgery. Sante was ill prepared to accept him. The transport alone was brutal. An air bed that was ordered sat bagged up on the floor as he was transferred to a very stiff uncomfortable bed. On day 2 the bed was finally set up for him. They really are not concerned about standard medical protocol to avoid DVT (blood clots) or providing typical post surgery support such as an Incentive Spirometers (the first Dr. to visit my father was surprised that he did not have one - promised to provide one immediately. No less than 30 requests later, still no Spirometer). He has been there for 6 days now and has not been bathed - the promise is 1 - 2 times per week. Medications were slow to come and staff seems confused. If this is the standard of care with skilled nursing facilities in Arizona, it needs some serious attention.
Update: Situation has improved quite a bit. Still questionable on the bathing schedule, however, the medication is regular and the care team is consistent and learning their patient well. Still concerned about the lack of early support accessories/devices for patients transferred immediately after surgery. Food is very good, facility is very clean and well appointed.
