  • Cowboy Ciao vs. Citizens Public House....Food Fight! Fight! Fight! Round 1: The atmospheres could not be more different. Cowboy Ciao is full of random southwestern colorful decorations, chandeliers, and murals on the wall. It seems to excite the crowd because it was loud. Boisterous laughter, plates and glasses clanging, and faster more succinct service. Polar opposite of CPH. I would say come here to have fun with friends or a date you don't want to pay much attention to. It's depends on one's mood so it's a draw. Round 2: The Salads!!! They are the exact same! Exactly. The same. Which made the comparison easy. The Stetson's tomatoes were tastier but the smoked salmon was not as good. CPH 1 Round 3: The main courses. I had the Pork Barbacoa which is considered a small plate on the menu....not so small. There was at least a half of a lb of slow cooked pork that was topped with a fruit (apricot maybe) chutney and almonds. All of that was served on top of a "sweet potato/almond patata" or as I called it "a yum yum pancake". It was good and hit all of the sweet, savory, salty tastes and textures needed to make a satisfying meal. My husband was kind enough to share his Pastrami Style Smoked Short Ribs with me. The ribs were tender and flavorful with a slight spicy bite to them. But the potatoes...the potatoes!!! Possibly the best potatoes I have had. Delicious!! For dessert we had the Oh, Canada, Peanut Butter Bar. This was pretty amazing. It was like having a peanut butter cheesecake with ice cream. Seriously close call that I am not gonna call.. Round 4: The Service. It really depends on the type of service you like. Our server here scored high on all marks and I didn't walk away thinking there was anything he could have done better but I will have to give this round to CPH. Details on that are for another review. It is a close one but the belt goes to the other guys on this one. But that doesn't mean I won't be back the next time I am in town!
