  • About 1 year ago my wife and I called Empire Today to come out give us a quote to tile our entire house. The sales rep arrived and asked us some basic questions and then measured the house. When he was done we talked about the type of tile we wanted to put down and then gave us a quote. Ultimately we decided to just do the TV area for a couple of reason, one we were planning for our wedding and wanted to use the money for that and we also wanted to live with the tile for 1 year before we made that big of a commitment. In January of 2017 we I called the original sales rep and told him we were ready to tile the rest of the house. He informed me that he was back in Chicago and would call one of the reps in AZ and give him my contact info. A few hours later I got a call from Larry Mullins and we scheduled an appointment for him to come measure the house and give us a new quote. He took the measurements and asked us some questions about the time and what we wanted to do. We explained it to him and he then gave his opinions which turned out to be very helpful and cost efficient. He showed us a quote that I was expecting since I had an idea from the year before. He said since you are repeat customers I will do something for you to reduce the cost. Once he worked his magic he showed us a new number and our jaws dropped and I think my jaw put a crack in the old tile when I saw the new price. I looked at my wife and we both said we liked the price. He asked when we wanted to install it and that following Saturday the tile crew was at the house chipping up the old tile. The Saturday the tile crew started chipping the tile I was instantly impressed with their work. While one guy was chipping the guy had a shop vac there to catch all the dust they were creating. After chipping some of the tiles they found the foundation had cracked in the Living room and the original owner did a horrible job trying to fix it which meant they needed to grind the floor to get the original fix off the floor and to make sure it was even when they put the tile down. It took about 4 days to remove all the tile and grind the floor where it had cracked and been repaired by a toddler. After the 3rd day, the tile guys brought in a couple of extra guys to help lay the tile. It took a total of 5 days to chip the old bad tile and put down the new tile. The tile guys were very friendly and were constantly cleaning the work area, very professional! They were also very careful when moving the furniture back for us. Two days after the tiles finished we had carpet put in two of the bedrooms, this was part of the original order. The guys that laid the carpet and the rooms cleared out and the new carpet installed, and furniture back in place in about two hours! I am very impressed with Empire Today and their subs that install the tile and carpet. The tile crew and carpet crew were two different subcontractors to Empire Today. I strongly recommend using Empire Today and ask for Larry Mullins when you schedule an estimate with them. Larry has a good eye and good ideas on how to save money! When we talked to the original company that was going to install the tile they said they couldn't do what Larry did and said we got an amazing deal. The tile we used in the house and will be using in the master bedroom is: Series: Forest Lane 6x24 Style: Antqchrcaol (this is on the work order). Antique Charcoal is probably the real name.
