I stopped by at 3:57am earlier today for breakfast. I knew something was up when I arrived and there were multiple police there one with emergency lights on and everything. I went to the door and they have a line of people going out the door with police crime tape up and handwritten signs saying to stay out until they call you. Once you get "called in" you have to do limbo under the police tape. They sat me down towards the end of the diner. I don't mind the music selection but they had it blasting to the point of distortion. I sat there waiting for anyone to come and take a drink order or food order for 12 minutes. I ended up turning on one of my TV shows on my phone and watched for a while until Anesha came to take my order. She had herself and another person saying she was in training. I placed my order for The Bubba and she told me it would be out in a few minutes. My food came about 14 minutes later and I still had not received my drink nor any silverware. The person who brought my food asked what my drink was and went and got that for me. The food quality was pretty good minus a weird taste in the hashbrowns. I finished my food and a little while later Anesha brought my check and told me there was no rush. I went to pay and was told I had to wait for my waitress and then she came over. I attempted to pay like I have here before with Samsung Pay and was told that I couldn't do that. The manager the older white lady copped an instant attitude and told me that I was a liar and that I hadn't paid with my phone. I have proof on my phone and statement that I have in fact used it here. They then decided to bring the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police in to talk with me about it. I greeted them and told them the situation and they didn't have much to say. The only thing that he had to say was that "they have rules" I told him I understood that but there were no rules up at all talking about tap and pay or paying with my phone was not allowed. The manager then smacks her lips and says that oh well I guess he's getting a free meal tonight. The police then told me to "have a good night" In fact, I would have never stepped foot into Midnight Diner had I known this new fact. I choose not to do business with establishments who are unable or unwilling to accept payment. The thing about Samsung Pay is it acts just like a regular card swipe but the sad fact is Midnight Diners POS is enabled for mobile payments they just choose not to accept them and now I know this but there was no excuse for the management treating me like trash and calling me a liar. They are the liars because I can show evidence that they accepted my phone as well as witnesses who were there. The biggest problem here is the slow service and treatment of guests. I can say with certainty that I will never return to this location.
