I'm pretty picky with my Hawaiian food, but island flavor is pretty alright in a sense of portion.
I came in here and tried their furikake chicken and spicy avocado poke.
So lemme get to the good stuff first: their poke is spot on good; fresh and delicious. If you get their 1lbs option it's a pretty good deal and you can share with friends.
We also tried the slightly cooked poke option but to be honest, I didn't care too much for it. It just reminded me of teriyaki cooked fish, nothing really special.
My main course was the furikake chicken, portions were huge! It lasted me that meal and fed me the next day (but then again I don't like to waste food, so I'm a huge left overs kinda guy..) ha!
As for the disappointments though, the flavor of the chicken got boring quick, and the texture was way too tough and difficult to digest. The chicken was also a bit too dry, I think it was deep fried way too long. The sauce was a little too salty for my preference but if you want something to fill you up on a deal, I suppose you're getting your money's worth.
Island flavor is alright if you want quantity over quality, and some decent poke but I can't really see myself coming back here again unfortunately.
