We arrived at 4:00 on a Saturday and chose to sit in the bar so my bf could watch one of the baseball games on TV. The bartender explained that it was happy hour and offered the happy hour menu in addition to the regular menu. The happy hour prices didn't seem veery happy. $5 well drinks and $6-$8 specialty drinks. Food choices were also on "special" but comparing them to the regular price on the menu we found most were only discounted less than a dollar. In once instance, it was a 23 cent discount. The seaweed salad was pretty tasty but the rest was just average. The bartender waiting on us was more focused on two regulars or friends that sat on the other side of the bar than the other four patrons that she was supposed to be taking care of. When she would come around she was nice enough but definitely not attentive. Empty drinks, empty plates, long waits for food etc. there was a bottle of Japanese whisky that caught my eye that I asked about. She said that she heard good things about it. When I asked the price she said $8.50. I had her get me some on the rocks. I didn't really care for it, it tasted more like a scotch than a regular whisky but that wasn't her fault but I was a little taken back when she brought the check out and informed us that the drink was actually $11.50 (oops). With so many other sushi places in the valley, I don't think we'll be coming back to Ra. Oh well, live and learn.
