| - About a month ago, I needed to have a crown placed over an upper molar, I was not real happy about it. I had looked around for deals and after the first dentist told me it would $890 with insurance (money I didn't have). I got desperate and ended up loading up the old Groupon and began to look for deals for a porcelain crown.
$350?! That's it!? Really!? Thought it might be too good to be true, I did understand (via the small terms text no one ever reads) that there may be some additional charges. I was okay with this. All in all the bill came to about $525 after the initial filler and prep for the porcelain crown. Still---$300 cheaper than my original price from the other dentist.
Then my heart sunk when I loaded up Yelp to see the reviews on the dentist. There was one big long rant. I read through and determined the person was a feeling a bit entitled that day when she got her work done and obviously made things harder on herself than necessary. I called their office initially and got Dr. Avery on the phone. He assured me that Dr. Lopez was more than qualified and had spent some time and received her dental doctorate through the armed services (Score +1 for Veteran Status) and long number of years of additional practice. Still a little leery, he assured me she was good at what she does.
Boy was she ever. I had the process spanned over 3 appointments, first was just an initial consultation and x-ray. The 2nd was prepping for the crown process and temporary crown. The third was putting the actual fabricated porcelain crown in place. There was a initial small amount of bleeding from the gums as expected. Hands down, one of the least painful dental processes I've ever had done. Dr. Lopez was excellent and was very thorough explaining the whole process to me and expected cost. She also has excellent patient side "dental chair manner" (you know, like "bed side manner" for nurses).
I was especially surprised when she took time to see me during, what I am sure, when a difficult family matter arose for her the day of my 2nd appointment. I actually told her she could have cancelled with me, but she stuck with her original schedule.
I would definitely recommend this small, little dentistry office. Everyone was friendly there, the receptionist, dental assistant, Dr. Lopez and Dr. Avery (albeit I didn't really work with him). Very impressed with the service and quality. It's been several weeks now, with no pain and I'm able to chew on the right side of my mouth like normal again. Thanks for the dental relief, Dr. Lopez!
FYI to the previous princess' posting, most times they don't send out for color match, my old dentist never did it either (he was in the business for 40 years). Take a hike and stop posting BS reviews that hurt small businesses. Willing to bet there's more to the story on that one.
