  • Never been here before, but happen to see an online ad promoting the Japanese Summer Festival. So decided to go check it out. Was expecting a lot more vendors but it was just a handful of them, inside the Kobayashi Hall. There was So-Men....didn't check it out in depth, but I think it was a Cup of Ramen and then you choose your toppings etc..and go down the line to pick up the toppings etc..and soup base at the end. I also saw Matcha Tea Table, Okonomiyaki, Chicken Yakitori, Frozen Banana Treats, Onigiri, Desserts, & Bento Meals etc. Didn't see any savoury stuff that appealed to me, so I went for the sweets! :P I bought 1 Grilled Matcha Red Bean Mochi, 1 Stuffed Green Tea Mochi, & Kakigori ~ A Rainbow Flavoured Shaved Ice. I went there when it just started at 3:30pm so there was no line ups. Wished the grilled one was a bit more grilled but it was still delicious, packed with a lot of red bean paste inside! Stuffed Green Tea Mochi was good as well, there was a Green Bean Paste mixed with Green Tea inside. The Kakigori was so tall and freshing, but wished there was more stuff added to it. It was just pure ice and flavoured colour syrup. The dance & taiko drum performances were the highlight of the event, in my opinion. I love the drums the most. The rhythm just runs throughout your whole body! There were also some stalls selling pottery, kimonos, wooden sandals, nicknacks, books, etc. Also saw a small artifact museum and a Japanese Tattoo Art Exhibit.
