Wonderful little farmers market with great produce at affordable prices. Quebec blueberries and tomatoes vie with imported veggies. Even though I prefer to buy locally grown greens, I have to admit that I enjoy the greater selection importing makes possible, especially early in the season. Prices are amazingly low. Most items range from $1 to 3, and two bags full of fruit and veg can be had for about $15. That beats any supermarket. I love the selection of fresh herbs, the potted plants to kick-start your own garden in spring, and the flood of tomatoes and pumpkins of all colours and sizes in fall. Maple syrup, honey and dried nuts and fruit are available all the time.
So far, I have never caught this market closed within the season. Even at 3 am they still sell you all the fresh raspberries your pregnant friend is craving for, or the bouquet of roses that comes in handy to fix a glitch with the girlfriend. One might call that true community service!
Since this fruit lover's heaven is only steps away from the metro Côtes-des-Neiges, the bus 165 and several Bixi stations, the shopping experience can easily be an all green one.
