| - I am writing this review about the second cup near Dundas Station in the Eaton Centre (there's another one inside them all closer to Queen).
Second Cup in general has my all-time favourite coffee (specifically lattes). They brew fresh, are significantly cheaper than Starbucks, and taste FAR better than Starbucks (seriously, everything about them is just better, their foam is actually creamy and doesn't look disgusting). As well, all Second Cups take SPC again which means a medium latte for a student is only about $3.50 (give or take, still less than $4) after tax (I compare this with over $5 for a medium latte from Starbucks).
I have one complaint of all Second Cups however, being the food. The food is hardly ever fresh, which makes sense as they get it delivered already baked. I am extremely picky with my croissents especially, as they need to be made the day-of to taste the way they should! My experience with their muffins has not been a good one either (seriously, they just don't taste good), but I have had their pesto and boccaccini sandwich before which HAS impressed me.
Anyway, moving on to this specific location. It's quite a small place and so the staff is only a handful of people who you will always see. I've never had an issue with the staff, and they have always been quite friendly. At the second cup in Union station, the staff has refused (on more than one occasion) to give me my SPC discount because I forgot to tell them that I had SPC until they had entered my order in the cash. I found this to be very rude (seriously, it takes 2 seconds to void the order, it's not like I had paid yet). At this location when I accidentally did the same thing, the staff was very nice and promptly voided the order and let me use my discount with no hassle. Also, I have on occasion found designs in my latte foam at this location! Seriously, I was amazed. I'm not sure if this just happened to be fluke, but last year I found a mickey mouse head shape in my foam, and just yesterday there was a heart shape! (I took a picture of yesterday's, I will upload this later).
So to conclude this ridiculously long review, I highly recommend this location (and Second Cup in general) and will continue to give them business as I go to school! I am giving them 5-stars even though their food is not the greatest, as they are still the best coffee shop I have been to in comparison. =]
