  • Spring break in Vegas? Sure, why not. Jr. Yelpers were less than enthused but we got in a couple of family-comedy/magic shows to placate them. MGM has an impressive lobby with a huge golden lion statue in the middle. Our check-in process went smoothly and the clerk, Mai, was really nice. They have a special prima card you can purchase for $500 which allows you to use at MGM and their affliate hotels, restaurants. It's a way to get you to spend all your dough at their facilities. Our rooms were nice, clean and the marbled art deco-ish bathrooms were really nice. Complimetary jasmine scented shampoo, conditioner, bath wash and lotion bottles lined the counter. I don't know how dudes deal with the jasmine scented stuff, but I liked it! Our bed was very comfy but it was hard to sleep on the down pillows as I prefer the pillows to be firmer. MGM is home to Cirque du Soliel's KA show but as they were on "vacation", we couldn't get tickets. There are several upscale restaurants and a Wolfgang Puck Cafe' on the main floor. In the rear is a high-end Japanese restaurant, Emeril's restaurant, a Michael Mina seafood restaurant and 3 fast food places. One for hot dogs, salads, the golden arches McD and an Italian/pizza/breakfast place. Amble further down, you have a sandwich shop, CSI experience and a screening show. We didn't venture into the pool area which is another level lower, but I could see at least 2 pools but understand there's up to 5-6 pools and a gym somewhere. What I like are the 2 Starbucks - one by the casino and one by the fast food places, both with long lines in the mornings. Take the escalator (by the front doors) downstairs to head to the garage and there are a few shops, ice cream, pretzels, a video shop where your head video is planted onto a dancing body (rather comic) and the popular footlong cocktails which is busy all day long. There are 2 doors which exit right onto the Strip towards the back of the casino where there's a buffet, restaurant and Rainforest Cafe'. They have a real lions' glass enclosure. One day, we saw 2 adult females with their 3 trainers lying or sitting down next to them and on a 2nd day, there were 2 juveniles playing with their trainers. Kinda sad to see these animals locked up. I'd rather see the space used for more slots or restaurants insead of caged animals 'tho.
