| - Sometimes I leave the Y wanting a sweet snack, and decide to get some of Cheskie's marvellous baking. What I really, REALLY want is a couple of their sufganiyot, the Platonic ideal of donuts, but these are only an occasional feature on their counter of treats. If I spot them through the window, I will likely buy at least half a dozen almost by instinct. Whether they are plain, jelly, chocolate, custard, or dusted with icing sugar is just superfluous detail to me. And other goodies: anything with cheese; anything in square format on bulging, dizzyingly large baking sheets behind the cash; anything drizzled with their light, mild, semi-sweet milk chocolate; the babkas; the kokosh. Probably a couple hamentaschen too. This is the hold that Cheskie's has on my sweet tooth and maybe my soul.
