After 24 years of subscribing to the Arizona Republic, I am cancelling my subscription due to 6 times this year billing has tried to overcharge me and in particular thevery poor customer service. I tried phoning this morning and was told by recording the wait for a live person would be 3 to 5 hours. It was always a long wait but this time, the wait time was ridiculous.
Also last week, I had to wait 45 minutes to report the delivery man threw my paper on 3 occasions on my grass which was being watered. The paper was soaked and unreadable. I had previously called 4 times to make sure that the delivery instructions were noted on my chart. Supposedly I was to be credited with 3 newspapers.
It took 50 minutes to cancel my subscription was told they would send me an e-mail verifying it which I have not received and told me there was an $11 balance which is again untrue.
The internet is not killing the newspapers, the newspapers are killing themselves with terrible customer service and incorrect billing. Another thing, to be charged extra for a holiday paper filled with paid advertisements that are not wanted is ludicrous.
