  • If you have ANY other alternative do not deal with this company. I have had internet with Cox for over 15 years. Periodically there were problems, most recently with streaming. Cox promised to fix the problem by increasing internet speed and to give me a good deal on television service with a landline phone thrown in. They were going to take down my Dish receiver to make it easier for me to cancel Dish. The day of the appointment arrived, and it turns out they can't take down the Dish receiver. Also the appointment time was screwed up. So I cancelled the changes. In the meantime I got to talking with Dish and decided to go through them for internet service as well as TV. Not a huge fan of Dish either, but dealing with them was way better than dealing with Cox. I actually talked with a few people there who were knowledgeable and helpful. Fast forward to today when I called to cancel my Cox account. I could not believe the attitude. Lots of lecturing and 'mansplaining'. He was putting me through the third degree, quizzing me on what I knew about lawsuits against Dish. I had to tell him at least 8 times that the decision was made and I just wanted to cancel. Then he put me on hold for 10 minutes - why does it take that long to cancel a simple internet account? Was he hoping I would hang up and not complete the transaction? I would suggest that if you have blood pressure or heart problems you have someone else contact Cox for you. I don't think I have ever dealt with anyone who made me this angry this fast. Or better yet, just stay away.
