| - I retired at age 58, 1 1/2 years ago and moved to Carefree, AZ after a wonderful career as a hospital CEO. I am an avid golfer and always worked out. I was told Yoga might help with my flexibility and to calm my "type A" CEO personality in retirement.
I went to Yoga Breeze and found all the instructors to be wonderful and so welcoming to a guy who had never done Yoga (or even thought he ever would). I took private lessons twice a week from Christine, the owner of Yoga Breeze for several months and she is an excellent and knowledgeable instructor, plus just one of the nicest people you could ever meet. She is perfect owner/leader of a Yoga studio. After a few months, I started going to classes and all the instructors are great. I still do one private lesson each week and go to classes a couple times a week as well.
Now, the rest of the story... I have had a degenerative hip disease for five years, I could still play golf and ride an exercise bike, but with quite a bit of pain. I had to give up walking on the golf course, which I loved. After just four months of Yoga, my hips quit hurting and I now walk when playing golf, yes, even in the AZ summer heat. I LOVE walking on the course again. I am going to take up hiking as well, something I was told I would never do because of my hips.
Plus, I have leaned Yoga is so much more than being flexible, I have learned to calm my mind and become more laid back. I took an 8 week course there on mindfulness, to help better live in the present and worry less. They offer so many interesting classes.
Christine and Yoga Breeze made this all possible, I can not say enough about the studio, the great people there, both the staff and students. It has improved my retirement and quality of life in ways I could not even have imagined 1 1/2 years ago.
If you have any interest in Yoga, you need to check out Yoga Breeze in Cave Creek!! David
