| - I feel the need to preface this review with the disclaimer that I was spoiled, horribly, after living near the Argyle stop in Chicago for a few years. (For the uninitiated, this was basically Thai Food Paradise.) So my standards might be pretty high. And Archi's had been hyped; I'd been told by a lot of native 'Vegans that Archi's is "The Best Thai"...and I feel like I'm about to Blaspheme.
The food's not bad. It's quite decent. But it's nothing terribly special, to me. The pad thai is good, but not in any way that sets it apart from the other pad thais in vegas. The curries are again, good, but their flavor seems to rely more on heat than the build of flavors in curries that truly knock my socks off. That seems to be what Archi's does well; everything is at least "decent". Nothing is bad. But nothing is amazing, either. I have never craved Archi's; I crave the Panang Curry at Pan Asian, or the Pad thai from Prin Kaow, nor whatever it is my husband always orders from Weera. Archi's is a safe bet, a good lunch place, decent takeout with a group.
But it doesn't have any favorites. It has no "Woah. I must tell someone." Factor. So, in conclusion:
Pros:
- Nothing noticeably bad in many visits.
- Polite staff, reasonable wait times, several locations.
- Starbucks of thai; you will get exactly what you expect, every time.
Cons:
- Nothing noticeably great in many visits.
- A lot of "Americanized" thai dishes, not as much variety as one could hope for.
- Starbucks of thai; you will get exactly what you expect, every time.
