  • There's a popular Chicago style hot dog place in Honolulu but I have to say, Windy City serves up an undeniable beat down to that place with one hand tied behind its back. The dogs at Windy City just taste better and have more of an "authentic" vibe to them instead of place like the one in Honolulu that's "trying" too hard to be a Chicago dog. Stepping in here for the first time, I knew it was going to be good because for a cold, Tuesday evening, it was packed and with many walk in take out orders. There was even one lady that came in to order a couple of dogs to go dressed in her house robe. Like she was at home watching The Voice and decided she wanted a hot dog and walked over. ;) The 2 things I've tried here... The combo Italian beef and sausage sandwich (#13). Large amounts of shaved beef piled on top of an Italian sausage (mild or hot) which is sandwiched in an Italian roll. This thing was HUGE! You can get other stuff added to it like Cheese (cheddar or mozz), Sweet peppers, and Giardinera. I ordered mine with a spicy sausage, sweet peppers and medium giardinera...and with the whole sandwich dipped in beef jus! It was hard to eat but I managed...hehe. On the second visit, I had to try one of the dogs so I got the Footlong Vienna Maxwell Street Polish Dog (#16), another monster. This polish dog is steamed then fried which gave it a nice snap when biting into it. The dog is topped with grilled onions, mustard and sport peppers. I got mine with nuclear green chicago style relish. Super filling and delicious. This one comes with fries as well! Mark H had the Chicken fingers on both visits and he said they're really good. Service on both visits was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Wind City is a must come back to for me.
