| - This has to be the worst "luxury" hotel I've ever stayed at. First off, I was staying here for a conference and had requested a higher floor room, but was given a 4th floor room - which is the lowest floor for rooms. I had also requested a King size bed since my wife was travelling with me, but we were given two double beds. In addition to not being able to sleep with my wife during the stay, I couldn't even fit comfortably on the bed (I'm 6' 4" so I always get a King bed). But I usually don't make a fuss about these kind of things when I'm at conference because I'm not paying for it anyway. The room itself was just okay - nothing wrong with it, but perhaps the most underwhelming room I've ever had at a supposedly luxury hotel. The only positive is that the bed itself was comfortable - would have been nice to have that King bed though, of course.
Many of the hotel staff seemed rude and inappropriate in situations - including the onsite Hertz staff. Obviously management is not training well for customer service at this location. Plus I had went to the front desk to get my key card "keyed" for use in the parking garage because I had rented a car there, but they couldn't even manage to get this right. I never could get the key card to work in the parking garage.
Conference rooms were poorly set-up, freezing cold, and loud! The walls were paper thin and it was at times very difficult to hear the presentations because sound from the other presentations next door would drift through - this was especially a problem in the back of the conference rooms. Attendees often were left standing at the back of the room because not enough chairs were set up.
Perhaps for Charlotte this is a nice property, but for those of us who have traveled around a bit, this place falls very far short on the luxury scale. If you are in Charlotte for travel and have an option to choose where to stay, I'd recommend the much nicer looking Hilton down the street - that's a nice looking property and Hilton is always good.
Not recommended.
