I have been until this hotel a Marriott fan. I had never stayed at a TownePlace Suites before and probably won't again after this experience. Location was the main reason for choosing this hotel and availability of an actual one bedroom suite was the other (bedroom with door, separate from living area/kitchen). The first strike happened when we were greeted with loud music getting into the lobby. I'm as much a fan of oldies as the next person but must they be blaring at the door, 24/7? I cannot say that I was overwhelmed with the personality of any of the desk clerks that we encountered. Most seemed like it was an inconvenience for me to be disturbing them. The actual room while it was the setup we wanted, it was old and drab. The furniture has most definitely seen better days. The pillows are odd and small and certainly not enough for anyone to try to sleep comfortably on. The pool was directly outside the front door and was full of clear beautiful inviting water on our arrival. However on the second day when we tried to use it, we couldn't figure out how to get in the gate. When my husband went in to inquire how to open the gate, we were informed that the pool was not open yet, was awaiting some repair and an inspection and would probably be a couple weeks before it opened. It would have been nice to be informed this when I made the reservation which I did directly with the hotel itself. Breakfast - what a joke! It is in what is apparently a converted janitor's closet, very small. Our first day had to skip it because we had to be somewhere before 6:30 which is when breakfast starts. The second day we were able to go to the free breakfast but there was no waffle batter to be found, only two hard boiled eggs which looked like they were from the last century and a variety of commercial pastries. I realize it was advertised as "continental" breakfast but I'd call it disappointing. We didn't try it again on our other two mornings. BTW there is a great breakfast cafe across the street. To say this is a medium priced hotel is also a joke. We paid almost $200 a night for at least two of the nights we stayed (for some reason there were different prices each night). Way to much for the quality and amenities of this hotel. Shame on you Marriott.
