I attended a Diamondbacks game on Saturday Aug 8th. I have parked in this lot many times before and usually there is an attendant and they have a sign on the street what the price of parking is. This time the attendant was not there yet. It was 12:30 pm. We came down early because we wanted to go to Cooperstown for something to eat before going to the stadium. Without the attendant there we read the sign and it said to pay $5 before 2 pm and $10 after 2 pm. We paid $5 in the slot and proceeded to eat at cooperstown. We closed our tab at 2:05 pm. Have the receipt showing what time we closed it out.
Upon returning to our car after the game, their was an envelope with a threatening message saying car was parked without payment and in violation, I must pay $5, my license plate has been recorded and if I don't pay $5 more then they will town me at a rate of $175 and $20 daily the next time I park there.
Below it there is a hand written note saying thank you for the $5, but I needed to pay $10 for parking after 2 pm. This is ridiculous and they are threatening me when I did everything by the books. I don't know why they did this, but I was there 1 hour and 30 min before 2 pm and did what was asked. Just because they didn't check the box or whatever till after 2 pm doesn't give them the right to ask for $5 more and threaten me.
The worst part is there is no number to call, no address, no nothing. I looked online and they have a non working number listed (602) 253-6690. They think they can bully people to get extra money and that is not happening. I tried to contact them to explain. I have my receipt from when I ate a cooperstown and I have a witness of when we parked.
Instead I now have to worry about parking in parking lots in Phoenix with the fear of being towed. I am not going to give into the bullying and put money in the box that they do not deserve. I spoke to an attorney and they said to keep the receipt and the envelope, do not pay and if I get towed to then take them to court. It still stinks that I have to worry if I am going to get towed the next time I park.
If I could have reached them I wouldn't have written this. But since there is no way to contact them and get this resolved this is my only course of action.
