FIVE STARS FOR CAKES, TWO STARS FOR COMMUNICATION.
I would give Barb's five stars for cake and taste, but I give them two stars for their poor communication, customer service and complete lack of responding to placing orders and getting back to me promptly. I knew I was under the gun and on a late timeline but wanted to check with Barb's Bakery first because I LOVE their cakes and have grown up on Barb's cakes. I called the at 9 am Tuesday and said I had a last minute order that was on a time crunch but could I email them pictures to see if they could make the cake by Saturday. I even said I was flexible on the design and would be happy with one of the simple design pictures I had sent as an option. The lady on the phone said I could email pictures, and they would get back to me to let me know if they had time. I emailed them at noon on Tues, and by 3:00 I hadn't heard back so I called again to ask if they could make the cake. The same lady I spoke to in the morning said she'd have to call back in the next morning (Wednesday) after she talked to the cake designer to see if the designer could make the cake. By 11:00 the following morning I still hadn't heard from them so I called again and this time the same lady said no, they were booked for the weekend and that they usually need 3-5 days for special orders. I pointed out that I had called AND emailed five days prior and that it was now at only four days prior. I was so frustrated that I had to do all the legwork just to find out that they couldn't make the cake. Even one of the simpler ones I had included. I never received a call or even a confirmation email from Barb's Bakery. As much as I love Barb's Bakery, I will not go back because I am so frustrated. However, if YOU decide to, and again their cakes are amazing, keep in mind that calling and emailing are not your best means of getting a cake made by them.
