We tried snowboarding here for the first time in 3 years. I would recommend it if your not up for the 3.5 hr drive to big bear, or the 2 hour drive to Brian head.
Quick tips: if you buy you're ticket online go directly to the rental section. The window marked "tickets" only sold tickets for the tubing hill. This would have saved us about 30mins if we knew this ahead of time.
Tip two: go early or you will be stuck in traffic as you go up and down the mountain to get here.
pros:
-it's snow and pine trees and you're out of the desert vegas!
-it took us about 1 hour to get there.
-you can rent everything you need there (including snow clothes for 30 extra). We just bought the lift ticket (all day 9am-4pm) + board, bindings, boots for 98 dollars online the day before we went. It's 119 of you do it the day of
-if needed you can have a complimentary coaching session. Don't know what exactly this entails but it's there.
-decent cafe and bar.
Cons:
-only two runs open.
-it gets super crowded with beginners in the afternoon and since their are only 2 runs open you have no option but to suffer near collisions.
-you have to pay 5 bucks for parking.
-super icy.
-girls bathroom line was 27 minute long (yes, I timed it).
