| - I've updated the review from 1 star to 4 stars. Why? 2 words: DOLBY CINEMA.
AMC really upped their game here and have made huge improvement in their movie exhibitions.
The new recliners are better than Harkins' - they have more of a full recline and the final resting position is VERY comfortable and provides good head support. Best recliners in the industry.
And while Harkins could always brag about having the only real IMAX theater in Phoenix, AMC's DOLBY CINEMA auditorium almost blows IMAX out of the water. Sure the screen is nowhere near as large, but the new laser digital projector shows a truly amazing image - so crisp and clear and well defined. The colours pop and the depth of field is impressive for a digital projection. While not in size, the picture quality rivals the best that IMAX can offer.
The Dolby Cinema auditorium also feature Dolby Atmos - which means a 360 degree speaker placement. The sound is incredible - its clear and rich, and that bass...oh the bass... makes your seat quiver. Truly an immersive experience.
at $15 a pop, it's the most expensive movie ticket in the valley, but so worth it for big movies that demand to be seen in theaters, like Blade Runner 2049 for instance, which was unforgettable in Dolby Cinema.
I used to brag that my home theater setup was better than the multiplexes in the valley, but that's not the case anymore with Dolby Cinema being the best movie presentation, perhaps in the world, right now.
