| - I stayed here for 4 nights while working on a business meeting which was happening at the hotel's conference center. Lobby is very modern; steel, glass, fountain, white leather seating. Front desk staff were always prompt and friendly. My room was good with a king sized bed. Lots of storage as there is no mini bar, but that also meant no in room fridge which I like to use. I'm sure they have them for rent. The bathroom was fine, though the tub/shower was a plastic one-piece built in and felt a little cheap. It squeaked horribly when I moved around in the shower but otherwise fine.
The only mirror other than in the bathroom was in the door of the closet near the front door which was awkward to use. Also the in room safe was at floor level in the same closet and would be awkward to access for anyone not able to get that low.
I only ordered one breakfast in the room but it arrived very promptly and was decent and priced like any other hotel of this caliber. Nothing special mind you just regular.
The food they put out on the buffet daily was pretty good as well, though sometimes the scrambled eggs were a tad runny but bacon sausage and fruit were always great.
This hotel is right across the street from several good restaurants and bars and only a 3 min walk to a huge liquor store to the west. It's very well situated for all the downtown amenities like shopping, theatre etc.
Taking the elevators down between 830 and 9am was tedious as when the hotel was full, the smallish elevators were always packed! I was on floor 9 and sometimes took the stairs.
The drinks at the lobby bar were quite expensive and my friend who ordered a rye and ginger got a vodka ginger which was a mistake made due to a slight language barrie between the server and the bartender who were both English as a second language people. In fact many of the staff there are which is common in a cosmopolitan city like Toronto.
All in all I would say my stay was decent but average. Nothing really stood out as extraordinary, but everything was good. It's not the Mandarin Oriental in Vegas, but alas, there can be only one!
