  • The star they are getting is for friendliness. I took my van in in November of 14 for an oil change. When I went to pick it up I was told that I needed new front brakes as my current ones only had about 3mm left on the pads. I naturally freaked out a little as I had just had those replaced in April. After telling them this they told me I "probably had enough to get me to the next oil change." I called my previous auto shop in Texas because they do all repairs with a 2 year warranty. Since I was out of state they gave me the number to AC Delco (the brake pad supplier) as this must mean my pads were defective. I then called my Dad (in another state) to vent because it seemed like there was always something wrong with my van, he told me, "Get another opinion. They see a woman with car seats and they try to sell brakes every single time." Well, AC Delco said to give their number to the repair shop and they were to contact them to be reimbursed for the brake job. When I took it back in and gave them the number for AC Delco (who I am assuming was going to require some sort of proof before funding an unnecessary break job), my break pads "suddenly" had 6mm left on them!!! I was told, "Isn't that funny?! The last guy must have looked through the tire, but now that we got the wheel off we can see it more clear and they still have about half their life left!" HA! Isn't that funny?! No. Just no. Overall, I learned that I need youtube how to check my own break pads because I am going to have car seats in the car for a while and apparently even good reviews aren't enough to guarantee a shops honesty. How disappointing. I picked them based on their good "honest" reviews on here and Angies List. Fail on both parts.
