| - Parker & Sons.... Nice looking cover on the book but the contents leave a lot to be desired. I should have checked their Yelp rating before I called them. Shame on me!
With a house full of Christmas company, my water heater took a dump. A local plumber that my neighbors have used was over committed and just could not squeeze me in. He recommended another local plumber and mentioned Parker and Sons. Left a message with the alternate local plumber who called my back at 8:30pm. He gave me a price and "penciled" me in if things fells through with Parker. I spoke to a person at Parker. I asked for a price but she could not give me one, only the plumber who is dispatched will be able to do that. I was scheduled for the first call and the plumber would be there at 8am. At 8:30am, I called to find out where they were. I was told they are on their way. 9:30am, I called again as to where the plumber is. I was told he would call when he is half hour out. That would mean after 10? Getting annoyed since my alternate local plumber had me for 11am if I needed him. Then out of the blue, no call, Parker plumber showed at 9:40am. He proceeded to give me a price which was $516 higher than my local guy for the same EXACT water heater, and that was with an Internet discount. Thanked him very much and called the local guy who showed at exactly 11am as promised and he was done, cleaned up and out by noon. Hot water by 1pm.
Unless you are totally up against the wall and don't mind paying through the nose, I would not recommend Parker and Sons. Also BEWARE of a contractor who won't give you a price, or even a ballpark price over the phone. I guess they figure once they have their foot in the door, they have the job.
