| - This fun zoo in eastern Toronto has a ton of animal exhibits and is great for animal lovers both young and old. The various parts of the park are grouped by geography: Australia, Eurasia, Americas, Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as a zone just for Canada-specific animals - so you can learn about different geographies and ecosystems while you explore. The zoo is extremely large, so bring your walking shoes, since you'll be covering a lot of ground if you want to see it all. About half of the exhibits are outside, and the other half are in indoor pavilions - so even on a cold day, there will be a lot to see.
My favorite parts were Africa, Australia, and Eurasia. The giraffes, hyenas, and big cats were a ton of fun to watch. And you can't miss the Australasia pavilion or the African Rainforest pavilion. If you're pressed for time, you can skip the American region (not as exciting, in my opinion) and the Canada's Domain (it's cool, but it's very spread out and far away from everything else).
Overall I had a blast here. At $23 per person ($29 in the summer) - plus $12 for parking - it's a bit steep compared to some of my favorite zoos. Especially given that many of the non-animal-housing indoor facilities aren't very nice. But the visit can easily provide you 4+ hours of learning and entertainment, so if you're an animal fan, I think it's worth the investment.
