| - For Christmas, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 on the Sprint prepaid plan for my daughter (in her early teens). We were planning on transferring her current service to Sprint. After trying online 3 times (the online service was consistently "not available") and speaking to a customer service rep, I was told to visit my closest Sprint Store. We visited the 54th Street location in west Chandler, and had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Derek. Once we told him that we had purchased the unit at Best Buy, he told us that only Best Buy could activate the phone. This may be the case for contract phones, but most certainly not for the prepaid phones. Because I had already spent time on the phone with Sprint (including a call directly to this store), I knew that I had to go in person. Derek clearly did not want to help us, and even went so far as to suggest (quite loudly) that I had not really called their store. In addition to being rude, Derek had no idea about any of the procedures for the prepaid plan. When I inquired if they sell the prepaid phones at their store, he said yes. Huh. I too, have to wonder if he didn't care to help a potential Sprint customer simply because the phone was already purchased. No wonder people hate Sprint. Very, very poor customer service. Am considering returning the phone and going elsewhere.
