| - While it's impossible to completely avoid the douchebaggery that seems to originate in this self proclaimed city of sin, the Hotel at Mandalay Bay is a nice refuge from the aspiring Jon Gosselins and Ed Hardy Wannabees that undoubtedly come to Las Vegas to breed. I've stayed here a handful of times in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.
The Hotel is not the place you want to be if you are seeking to rage out and have the stereotypical Las Vegas experience. It's a little more refined, but not snobbish. In one word, relaxing. Every room is a suite, it's clean, its convenient, it can be romantic, the staff is professional, and it's surprisingly affordable.
The problem on most recent visit is that when we arrived Saturday evening the staff at The Hotel had given away our room even though we had a reservation. Very disappointing. What did they do to make up for it? They sent us over to the Mandalay Bay for the night. The room they put us in wasn't Holiday Inn, but it was pretty gross. Not nearly equivalent to a suite.
This hasn't completely soured me on The Hotel, but next time I wont be nearly as quick to rebook. I also won't be nearly as quick to drink an entire bottle of tequila with dinner and then complain loudly and obnoxiously when the valet driver can't find my donkey.
