  • I was under the wrong impression that the only place in Phoenix to go for a Molecular Gastronomy experience was Kai. I got searching in earnest to surprise my wife on her B'Day, mid June and came across Atlas. The first thing that hit me was the unassuming aura about the place. Small, Non-Pompous BYOB, tucked away in kind of a strip-mallish place (if one exists in downtown scottsdale). The Personalized Menu they provide is quite an added value for effect, if you are truly trying to impress someone. But that is not all. There were 4 of us at dinner and we were seated a quite corner, not that the rest of the restaurant was noisy. The walls seemed to have voice cancellation padding, the likes you would put in a home theatre room. Since there was 4, we pretty much got to taste two or three options within each of the three courses ( + a welcome palette). Among the first course, Foie Gras was melt in the mouth. Duck Egg and Pork Cheek were the winners among the second course. The Groper and unbelievable Steak were the highlights of the final course. The lamb that I ordered was disappointing though. For some reason, it tasted dry although it was medium done. Dessert options Lemon Cheesecake and Double Chocolate Brownie took us into trance. We were sad that we had to get out, but truly speaking we were stuffed and satisfied, and I had collected enough brownie points to last me another year
