Update. Driving the car today, it still has the same problems it went in for. $ wasted.
I've been a customer of this Conrad's for 20 years, but I think I'm done. A few weeks ago my wife had a head light bulb changed and it was much more expensive than we thought it should be, but fine. Today we wanted a check engine light that had been off and on lately checked. During the write up I noted that the diagnostic fee had gone up from the $65 I remembered to $99, but prices go up. From past experience if I had repairs done the fee would be waived.
The verbal estimate said they had pulled three codes from the car and a GM bulletin told them what work to do. I approved the repair. At pickup I was surprised that the bill included the diagnostic and the repairs. I expressed the surprise, but didn't object. The counter person brought out the manger who listened and said that a master technician spent an hour and a half figuring out what was wrong. His time is valuable right? I repeated that I was surprised not objecting and repeated my past experiences. No offer to change anything. I paid and left. 1.5 hours to get codes and look them up? I doubt it.
Never say never but prices and practices have changed and I don't plan on going back.
