| - Highly recommend the dress shirts here.
I went here on in Dec 2015 to get 3 shirts made. It was my first time here, so they did my measurements. They said since it was my first time here, they would have only 1 of the shirts made, then after they've ensured it fits, they would get the other 2 made.
When the first shirt arrived approx a month later, the fit was not very good, so they offered me that shirt at a discount. I bought it. They then made adjustments in the system and allowed me to pick a replacement shirt, so that I could have 3 properly fit shirts next time I came in. A month later they arrived and fit great.
A year after owning the shirts, I love them! Excellent quality, they don't wrinkle very much and the fabric still holds great.
I went to Surmesur on May 2017 to see if their shirts would be any better. I ordered their cheapest shirt which is similar price to those at Spier. About a month later, the shirts arrived and I found out that they are 60% cotton 40% polyester which is truly not the same quality as the 100% cotton shirts found at S&M. It took 4 visits to get the right fit, which was a disappointment.
Overall I think that S&M offers better tailored dress shirts for the value, but Surmesur offers better customer service and experience. The gentlemen that served me at S&M was nowhere as knowledgeable or professional as the guy at the other shop, nor do they have small perks like offering you coffee or tea. However, if you can deal with Rick directly then your service will be amazing as he is the owner and you cannot out-knowledge him on shirts and fabrics. I remember him explaining to me about threadcounts and the way fabric was sewn. Mindblown.
