  • As a brand-new first time mother, I had a bad experience here. I also worked here for 2 weeks and 2 days. There are only a couple of positives about this place, and a whole slew of negatives. They do keep on top of cleanliness and very thoroughly background check their daycare workers. They do keep an accurate record of feedings and diaper changes and give the parent the paper. If you have 100% urban league, you don't have to pay Stepping Stones anything at all for the first six months, after that there will be a co-pay. So if you qualify for urban league and are just looking for work, you will have free daycare for six months. That's a huuuuge perk! Their biggest problem (of many) right now is that the main director walked out on them, so everything is miscommunication and in disarray. Management is mean, drastically overwhelmed and has an attitude problem. They have installed automatic spraying air fresheners in the kids rooms, even the infant room, but if you read the studies on these, it can cause childhood asthma and all sorts of complications for growing kids. It's really not good for their developing lungs!!! As a regular customer, you can drop by anytime to see your child. Anytime! As an employee there, you have to go your entire shift without visiting your child, even on breaks. Something about that is wrong. The poor workers that have their own child or baby in day care there, can't even visit their own child even when not working. This is the reason I got fired. They wouldn't let me visit my baby ON MY BREAK, and I burst out crying. They accused me of not being able to perform my job since I was crying, and fired me on the spot. Very very cold and uncaring. Bullhockey! There was a little boy in the Sweet Peas room that was biting other children and the daycare workers did absolutely nothing. They would just fill out an accident report when kids got bitten very hard, but did not put him aside in time out or separate him from other kids at all. They just let it happen. DO NOT Bring your children here for the overnights, even though it's a 24 hour facility. As I personally worked there, they would have 15 kids to 1 attendant only. It was an absolute nightmare. Most the kids are sleeping, but not always. They are way way way way over the legal quota on the graveyard shift, because they know the officials won't come in during those hours. They only check up on them during business hours. I really really didn't like that as I was gone for only eight hours, 5 or 6 different 18/19-year-old girls would be watching my tiny baby during the course of 8 hours. That seems a bit excessive for them to be switching around caregivers that much. This daycare does not send photos or offer video footage at all! Parents can call and check on their child, but you will reach the front desk and be put on hold while they get a verbal report of how your child is doing. Really horrible place to bring a baby, it nearly traumatized me, and now I will pay extra for a babysitter so at least I know it's one on one care. It's been six months since I was a customer and then employee at Stepping Stones Academy. I had such a bad experience there, I wanted to really think about it and write a fair review.
