| - First for the foodies. I've never been disappointed with a meal at Ocean Club. The food is easily 4 stars. It is always prepared how you ask, and have never felt out of line letting a server know if something is wrong. The service is always great, plenty of attention, bussers keep the table clean, and if any member of the staff sees that you need something, they are happy to oblige. I have had several cuts of steak, sea bass, and most of the appetizers. I can't think of a single thing I've ordered and not been pleased. Although drinks are expensive, it's worth ordering a martini because they give you the shaker with almost a full refill for your glass. As far as nice meals go, Ocean Club hits the mark on every level.
The only reason I give this specific Mastro's 3 stars is strictly personal preference of atmosphere. This place is BUSY!!! Possibly too busy to really enjoy a fine meal. It's definitely a social "place to be seen". Evening gowns, expensive suits and colorful characters are not uncommon. There is a special energy to this restaurant. But that's where it crosses the fine line of dining and a social club. I've sat in the bar dining area at a high top and felt like a sardine. The table is not big enough for a bottle of wine and your food. There are so many employees that you can't really have a long conversation without being interrupted. And there is so much traffic, you feel like someone is going to crash into you at any moment. Again, it's only personal preference that if I'm going to drop 2 or 3 hundred on a meal, I want some space to enjoy it. For a special occasion to connect with company, try Mastro's steak house on Pinnacle or City Hall in Scottsdale. Exact same food, more relaxed atmosphere and room to appreciate your company and a great meal.
