My first 3-star review. It was bound to happen sooner or later, I suppose. I just wish it wasn't for a mom & pop local joint like Baby Kay's. Let me break it down:
PROs:
Live music (not sure if this is everyday)
Friendly servers
Fresh garlic bread
Olive coleslaw
CONs:
Price - there was a good amount of crawfish in my etouffee, but it's $19.25 a plate
Portion - the BBQ Shrimp appetizer had 5 shrimps. FIVE shrimps for $9.25? They weren't very big either. The cajun combo consists of 3 cups - 1 of the gumbo, 1 of the jambalaya, and 1 of the crawfish etouffee
Food - too rich/creamy and not very spicy at all (then again, my heat scale tends to know no bounds)
Slow service - this is more of a staffing issue, I believe. Maybe the rush was because of the Deal Chicken coupon?
I shall return for happy hour next time. I would be happy to be proven wrong. My first visit wasn't quite as life-changing as I would've liked it to be, based on other Yelp reviews. Bummer.
