| - I decided to finally check out the beer distributors in my neighborhood, instead of just walking back from Giant Eagle with something. This was the first distributor I tried.
Pros:
*Comparison of one case with another nearby distributor was $2 less here
Cons:
*Parking is decent if you use the alley next to the store, but Liberty is a busy street and you might get annoyed.
*Simply not enough selection to choose from, both in the imports and the craft beer categories. I remember seeing one Belgian (Leffe). There were probably a few more, but this is clearly not the place for that. I went here to look at cases (IPAs) from four breweries and compare my savings on getting a case to buying 6-packs at Giant Eagle: Ithaca, Voodoo, Full Pint, and Lagunitas. Of these, they had no Voodoo (it's a little hard to come by, but spreading in influence), and I don't believe they had IPA cases for any of the others, though they may have had other cases for Lagunitas and Full Pint, I can't remember for sure. I was reduced to considering Bells and Dogfish Head - great beer just not the choices I was looking for. If you want Budweiser or whatever people that don't actually like beer drink, this place is probably fine.
There was a cold room which I didn't look in, but usually there aren't many craft beers in there. If I go back, I'll take a peek.
I ended up with a case of 60 min IPA for $35.85 incl tax. These sell for $10-$11/six at GE, so I probably got the equivalent of one six-pack free by getting the case which is what I expected.
After I left this place, I went to Pistellas and had a better experience. This place might be cheaper than Pistellas in general, though I only have the one case I bought here to make that claim. You can't save me money if you don't sell the beer I want!
